Accommodation recommendations
As I travel, I stay in some great places. Below are those said places!
Four Points Flex by Sheraton (Formally Sleeperz)
Cardiff, Wales
When I booked my stay here it was a Sleeperz hotel, but when I arrived it had changed to a Four Points Flex by Sheraton hotel, part of the Marriott Hotel Brand. I would say this is a great addition to the Marriott brand as I have always found Sleeperz hotels to be high quality with very comfy beds.
It is difficult to fault my stay here, the only thing I might possibly say is the shower wasn't the hottest. But to be honest I like red hot showers so I often find shower temperatures limited to below my liked temperature.
I paid £84 for two nights here. Which given it is a stone throw from Cardiff Central station makes this somewhat of a bargain. I wonder now it's under the Marriott banner it will be that cheap going forward... I will definitely be checking for when I return for Bute Street Station!

Toad Hall Hostel
Machynlleth, Wales
Every now and then you find a place to stay and think I have stumbled upon a hidden gem. There ain't many places you can stay in Wales that only cost £30 a night to stay. For that £30 you get your own private room, access to a fully equipped communal kitchen and shower room. There is also the communal lounge and games area.
I have stayed here twice now and have enjoyed both visits. I have met people here and enjoyed in-depth conversations about travels and have shared advice with other travellers. If you are looking for somewhere that is both basic, but brilliant all at the same time, then look no further than Toad Hall!
Don't be put off by the word "hostel" it is the least hostel like place I have seen.

Jacobs Inn Hostel
Dublin, Ireland
Dublin is well renowned as one of the most expensive cities to stay in. Which meant I had to think outside of the box when it came to me visiting there. Thinking outside the box led to me actually sleeping in a box! But thankfully not a cardboard box, but a pod box.
Now the idea of pod hotels to me wasn't one I would usually choose to stay in, but at about £25 a night it simply couldn't be ignored! The room I booked in particular had four pods in it, this was about £5 more than a room with 12 pods in it.
Each room had a shower room which was for only the 4 people in the pods, shower was push button operated and only lasted for about 20 seconds at a time, so having a nice relaxing shower is not exactly an option here! The verdict I would give about here is, if you are on a tight budget, then this is the place for you (hence why I recommend it on here). But if you like your privacy then maybe look elsewhere. For me I will return here only if other options are out of my price range.

Railholiday
St Germans, Cornwall
A place I have wanted to stay at for a long time, but every time I was in the South West it was always fully booked. Thankfully when I was in Cornwall walking to Penzance I met Lizzy and after a chat I was offered to come down in the winter for a complimentary stay. Was very grateful for the invite and after my trip to the Isle of Wight I took Lizzy up on the offer.
The carriage I stayed in was The Old Luggage Van which was very cosy and a perfect place to stay, be it for a solo traveller or a couple. The unit is completely self contained with a kitchen, shower room, very comfy bed, and a lounge area with a wood burning stove to keep you warm in the winter.
With its location been right next to the station it is in a perfect location and is simply a must place to stay for all rail/travel enthusiasts.

St Helens Coastal Resort
St Helens, Isle of Wight
In February I headed down to the Isle of Wight for a few nights get away after a few days in London! Wasn't really fussed on location, so just searched about the Island for somewhere for 2 - 3 nights for under £100. Amazingly I found a static caravan on a holiday park £86.40 for three nights!
This was my first time staying in a static caravan since I was a kid. When I checked in I was amazed to see how much they have improved over the years. The quality of this caravan was excellent. Bed was very comfy, shower power was incredible. Living room was a very pleasant place to sit and relax. Kitchen was handy as saved me a fortune in food costs. I used the conveniently located corner shop just around the corner for supplies.
Cost for 3 nights: £86.40
