EAST MIDLANDS ROVER

From the Hope Valley Line in the north, to the Marston Vale Line in the south and all the way out to Cleethorpes, Skegness. No matter what you want from your travels, this ticket will have you covered!

Things to do:

  • Hope Valley Line: - On the Hope Valley Line I'd particularly encourage visits to three stations on this line, Edale, Hope & Grindleford. Edale & Hope are both great for getting out walking right into the heart of the Peak District with minimal effort! Grindleford is also great for walking, but if you are more of a foodie person than a walkie person then there is ana amazing little cafe near the station.
  • The Poacher Line: A beautiful line where pretty much every station on the line deliverers something that is worth seeing. But personally I'd encourage visits to Hubberts Bridge & Havenhouse. Both perfect for walking and just relaxing if you wish. The village of Wainfleet is also rather pretty and worth a visit. It is walkable via country lanes from Havenhouse. Two birds one stone as they say!
  • The Barton Line: Some lovely scenery to be had on this line. Two stations worth a visit are Thonrton Abbey & Barrow Haven. If visiting Havenhouse take a walk across the fields straight out of the station and then onto country lanes towards Ulceby, or maybe the other way to Goxhill. Visit Barrow Haven and talk a walk along side the River Humber to Barton-upon-Humber and if feeling like it, head over the Humber Bridge to Hessle. Keep in mind Humber is taking you out of the rover area.
  • Marston Vale Line: A line I like to think is a hidden gem for scenery. At the most southern point of this rover you will find a line that in the near future will be eaten up by East to West rail and will possible loose some of it's charm, head down and visit it while you can! I'm told the tearooms at Ridgemont station are a treat worth visiting!
  • It's worth pointing out that there are loads of places to visit on this rover. See the map at the bottom of this page for the complete coverage.
