Yes... Another walk!
Hot on the back of last year’s walk following the Great Western Mainline I am back for another mammoth walk!
Last year’s walk raised an eyewatering £10,707 which was well above my target of £7,500. The generosity of the people that donated and gifted me food, water & accommodation along the way has encouraged me to undertake another mammoth walk!
As with last year’s walk, I will be walking between Every Last Station on the lines that I will be walking. This will obviously mean I won’t be walking the most direct route from the North coast to the South Coast. As the map suggests, it will be a rather zigzag walk!
I can’t wait to get started with this walk.

Why Samaritans!
In October 2018 I was visiting stations in the Exeter area when at one station there was a gentleman that was there. While waiting for my train he jumped down on the tracks and then climbed up to the platform where I was. After a brief exchange where he asked if I had a lighter, I boarded my train and went on my way. Later in the day I noticed several cancellations and it was only when looking through social media I discovered a person had been hit by a train at the station where the gentleman asked me for a lighter.
I headed back to the station to see if it was indeed the person I’d spoken too briefly. It was, it transpired I was one of the last people to speak to the gentleman before he took his own life.
After this my head was asking repeatedly could I have done something to prevent this, what ifs, and buts, and just everything. It was only through the help from Samaritans that I was able to process things and move on. From that day on I have always wanted to help raise awareness of the work Samaritans do and the help they can provide those who need it most.
Over the last two years I have raised over £12,500 for Samaritans. The first event in 2022 was to visit every Manchester Metrolink station in one day! This raised just over £2,000. The following year in 2023 I raised over £10,500 by walking from London Paddington to Penzance following the Great Western Mainline!
The lines I'll be following
Starting In Holyhead I will be following the North Wales Coast Line across the Isle of Anglesey and onwards to Llandudno Junction.
At Llandudno Junction I will then follow the Conwy Valley Line to Blaenau Ffestiniog before swapping National Rail lines to Heritage Railway.
I will follow the Ffestiniog Railway through the Snowdonia National Park and then down to the coast at Porthmadog where I will rejoin the National Rail network and follow the Cambrian Coast Line all the way to Shrewsbury.
From Shrewsbury it will be a short walk along the Marches Line as far as Craven Arms where I will join the Heart of Wales Line.
I will follow the Heart of Wales Line in its entirety to Llanelli where I will then follow the West Wales Line to Carmarthen.
From Carmarthen it will then be the home straight as I walk to Whitland and then follow the Pembroke Dock Branch Line through Tenby and onwards to the finale at Pembroke Dock!
