Highland 4in8 Rover

The Highlands of Scotland have some of the most scenic railways in Britain. The Highland Rover has you covered for all of them! From the city, to the middle of no where, this ticket is the perfect way to experience everything the Scottish Highlands has to offer.

Things to do:

  • Corrour: Britain's most remote station... but that isn't the only reason to visit this station! There is one of the most amazing restaurants there which does some amazing meals! There is also the signal box accommodation which you could stay in, or if it's out of your price bracket, like it is for me, then why not take the short walk down the track and stay at the Loch Ossian Youth Hostel.
  • Dalmally: A lovely charming station with a charming village to match. But neither of them are the main reasons to visit Dalmally. The first reason is to visit Dalmally is to take a walk up to the Duncan Ban Macintyre Monument. Then the other reason is to take a walk to Kilchurn Castle which is halfway between Dalmally and Loch Awe station.
  • Strathcarron & Attadale: For scenery that is out of this world, visit these two stations and walk between them. the views on the way are simply amazing! Add to that, that both the stations are rather beautiful then it is well worth visiting. The whole Kyle line is rather special to be honest.
  • The Far North Line: This is my favourite line in Scotland. The whole line is full of amazing stations, amazing scenery & amazing walks. To be honest though, when you reach the Thurso, why not hop on a ferry and go and explore Orkney!
  • Insch: Visit here for a nice walk up a little hill to visit Dunnideer Castle ruins that allow for some splendid views to be had of the surrounding countryside.
  • Aviemore: Visit this delightful mountain town of Aviemore. Here you can simply admire the lovely town. Or you can max out your rover and take a journey on the Strathspey Steam Railway which if you show them your rover you will receive a 10% discount on your ticket price.
