NORTH WEST ROVER

From Hexham to Leeds and Chester to Windermere. The North West Rover really will get you to all the best places in the North West (and beyond).

The Settle & Carlisle Line, Cumbrian Coast Line & Tyne Valley Line are often spoke about as some of the most scenic lines in Great Britain. These lines and more are covered on the North West Rover! But it's not just the scenic lines, This ticket can see you visit Liverpool, Manchester, Leeds, Carlisle & even Hexham & Chester all under this one ticket.

Things to do:

  • Settle & Carlisle Line - Starting your day at either, Skipton, Leeds or Carlisle you could visit England's highest station, Dent. Visit the world renowned Ribblehead Viaduct, or visit the delightful market town of Appleby. With so much to explore on the Settle & Carlisle line you might choose to spend more than just one day of your ticket on this line, and to be honest, I wouldn't blame you!
  • The Cumbria Coast Line - The Cumbria coast line offers some simply stunning scenery no matter which direction you look out of the window. Visit the beach at Nethertown. Walk along the beach from Nethertown to the lovely village of St Ives. Visit Ravenglass and take a trip on the Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway which as an added bonus of a 10% discount on single & return tickets when a North West Rover ticket is presented.
  • Entwistle on the Ribble Valley Line - A nice little station that delivers you straight into the middle of some amazing walking. Take a walk around the Entwistle reservoir and the Wayoh reservoir. Finish the walk off with a pint and bite to eat in the Strawbury Duck pub right next to the station!
  • The Wigan to Southport line - Alight at Appley Bridge and then walk along the River Douglas. You can walk this for as far as you would like as you have the ability to rejoin the railway at either Parbold, Hoscar, Burscough Bridge, New Lane and if your feeling really energetic you could follow the river all the way into Liverpool with escapes on to Merseyrail at Maghull.
